Start with how it’s packed
Ask exactly what the parcel includes: insulated liner, ice pack type, and whether that changes based on delivery distance or season. A specific, confident answer says more than a generic “yes, we ship cold.”
Ask about the dispatch cutoff
A same-day dispatch cutoff time matters for cold-chain integrity, not just convenience, since a shorter transit time means less opportunity for an ice pack to fully melt before arrival.
Ask what happens on a delay
Couriers occasionally run late. Asking what the supplier does if a delivery is delayed, whether they proactively reship or leave it to the buyer to notice a problem, reveals how seriously they treat cold-chain failures after the parcel has left their hands.
Ask about remote or longer routes
If you’re in a part of the UK with longer typical delivery times (parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, some island postcodes), ask whether packaging is adjusted for the longer transit. A supplier who hasn’t considered this is more likely to have cold-chain failures on exactly those routes.
Reading the answers together
None of these questions alone determines whether a supplier is trustworthy, but a supplier who answers all of them clearly and specifically is demonstrating an actual process, not just a policy written to sound reassuring.
